Australian drivers will now be able to get around even easier thanks to more intuitive and powerful data generated by Intelematics as it moves to a cloud computing solution.
Many cars on Australian roads are fitted with in-built navigation devices that receive live traffic data and 70 per cent of this data is provided by Intelematics. With technology now enabling vehicles to be better connected to internet-based diagnostic services, the need for Australia’s leading telematics company to have greater speed and accuracy is paramount to the success of its business going forward.
The company is set to finalise its transition to a cloud computing solution, a move that will give Intelematics the ability to provide solutions to its customers anywhere in the world more quickly and efficiently.
For Intelematics’ traffic data customers, which include vehicle manufacturers, road authorities and Google Maps, the ability to process and deploy more accurate information faster means drivers will be provided with the best route information to help avoid traffic incidents and congestion.

Intelematics’ connected vehicle products provide an ever-increasing amount of data. Intelematics’ connected vehicle customers such as auto clubs and fleet managers will now benefit from the company’s ability to share diagnostic data to all of its customers anywhere in the world in real-time. This means that information about a vehicle fault that caused a breakdown in London will help prevent a breakdown in Melbourne.
Intelematics’ Chief Technology Officer Sam Hallawell says that the transition to cloud computing has many benefits to help keep people moving.
“Our business is driven by data – we capture data through millions of sensors to provide traffic and incident information as well as information on vehicle health.
“With so much data at our fingertips, there’s a lot of information to sift through, so the challenge is giving it meaning that will have real impact on people’s lives.

“With the move to cloud computing, we can access new forms of artificial intelligence and machine learning that will enable greater scalability and flexibility, which also provides a more secure environment and enhanced customer data protection.
“Commuters will also benefit, with smart data that can tell them the best time to catch the train to work in the morning, or the best time to do the grocery shopping to avoid traffic.
“The move to cloud computing will also allow Intelematics to accelerate growth in new markets and help to secure new global customers. This is because Intelematics’ data-driven services can be deployed more quickly from the cloud, rather than relying on local infrastructure,” said Mr Hallawell.
Intelematics’ transition to a cloud computing solution is being delivered by Amazon Web Services, the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform.
