Intelematics has launched its advanced battery prediction maintenance service (FailSafe) on the Geotab Marketplace, expanding easier access to predictive maintenance tools for fleet and lease operators.
The patented technology uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to detect early signs of battery failure, helping businesses reduce vehicle downtime, avoid unexpected breakdowns, and improve operational efficiency.
Geotab, a global leader in connected vehicle and asset tracking, supports over 55,000 customers and 4.7 million vehicle subscriptions worldwide. Intelematics’ battery prediction solution is now listed under the Maintenance and Diagnostics category on Geotab’s Australia and New Zealand’s Marketplace, designed to assist organisations predict and discover problems with their vehicles early. Early detection of issues with fleet vehicles can minimise vehicle downtime, reduce maintenance costs and give smarter control over resource allocations.
Smarter fleet maintenance through predictive insights
The FailSafe battery prediction service is designed for fleet and leasing companies seeking to proactively manage vehicle health. By analysing patterns in lead-acid battery performance, the technology can forecast imminent failures with high accuracy, reducing false alerts and enabling timely battery replacements. This allows fleet and leasing companies to prevent vehicle breakdowns from inconveniencing or endangering their customers or employees.
“Fleet operators across the world are increasingly looking to AI-driven solutions to improve vehicle uptime and reduce maintenance costs,” said Jules Snow, Head of Connected Vehicles at Intelematics.
“By integrating our battery prediction capabilities into the Geotab Marketplace, we’re making it easier for businesses to access tools that support fleet maintenance scheduling and pre-emptive battery replacement.”
Proven performance backed by global data
The technology has been successfully patented and trialled by fleet operators in the United States. It is currently available in vehicles connected to the VOYO OBDII system, through a partnership with US-based telematics company Voyomotive, signed in 2023.
The predictive algorithm was developed using data from over two million vehicle trips and thousands of battery-related service calls, ensuring robust performance across diverse driving conditions.
“Vehicle downtime from flat or failing batteries are more than an inconvenience—it’s a business risk,” said Rob Finney, General Manager at Intelematics.
“Our battery prediction service helps companies avoid costly disruptions before they occur, leveraging vehicle telemetry and usage patterns to assess risk and generate early warnings.
We’re proud to see this Australian-developed technology more easily accessible to fleets and leasing companies across Australia and New Zealand.
We also see joining Geotab Marketplace as an opportunity to extend this relationship to our other connected services such as automatic crash detection, connected roadside services and 24/7 fatigue assessment monitoring services,” says Rob.
