As the way we travel and work continues to evolve, the need to help businesses and governments navigate these changes is increasing. Where in the past employees and consumers may have chosen to rely on their car or take public transport, today’s landscape is very different.

The recent rise in the availability of e-modes of transport, especially in major cities, has led to more choice. In turn, this has created an environment where the ability to mix-and-match modes of transport to complete journeys is both easy and convenient.

Cities and local councils are investing in new infrastructure to encourage cyclists and pedestrians onto roads and pathways. They are also encouraging the uptake of e-modes of transport and developing new policies to keep pace with demand.

Travelling into the city on the train and completing the final leg of a trip on an e-bike or e-scooter is no longer unusual. Similarly, hiring an e-scooter to travel across a campus, suburb or city is simple.

Supporting different modes of travel

The challenge for businesses and governments is not just understanding how people travel, but supporting people to do it safely, sustainably and cost effectively.

As Australia’s leader in traffic data and mobility insights, we have developed Omniway – a new mobility-as-a-service (MaaS) platform – to help organisations meet this need.

Omniway is one of the first MaaS platforms to help governments, businesses and consumers, improve how they travel. The platform builds on the success of the Arevo trip-planning platform, which we helped develop for the RACV.

Scalable and easy to integrate

Omniway connects multiple modes of transport and allows users to plan, choose and pay for journeys via a single application. Uniquely, it uses data to determine the safest routes for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers, plus it presents optimal route options using predictive data.

Omniway is a scalable and open platform which allows the easy integration and management of mobility or transport services, enterprise services and front-end user access via a white label Mobility App.

Our suite of Omni-features can be geared towards commuters, drivers, cyclists and other transport modes.

Smarter ways to drive, cycle and park

Omniway currently features three core modules – commute, park and cycle. The commute module allows users to view public transport disruptions, delays, and departure times in an uncluttered interface. The park module gives users access to times and pricing for a range of off-street parking locations. Plus, live on-street parking availability, bluetooth-enabled remote entry and exit, and in-app payment capability. And the cycle module assists cyclists to find safe routes taking into account road infrastructure, such as bike lanes, and topography.

Designed with safety in mind

Importantly, Omniway can determine safe routes based on speed and incident data, supplemented by voice-guided navigation. This is done using our unique routing algorithm, which sits behind and drives the platform.

Omniway delivers the best of each form of transport, by leveraging technology and connectivity to meet changing organisational needs and consumer preferences. It also offers a true alternative to car ownership.

By bringing a ‘plan, pay and ride’ experience into a single platform, it makes it possible for business and industry to deliver safer, more sustainable transport. And using our in-house engineering and design capability, Omniway can be tailored to meet the needs of any organisation or government.

Over the past twenty years, Intelematics has developed an enviable reputation as a leader in mobility solutions and Omniway is the next chapter in our evolution. We are making it our mission to help everyone get from place to place – faster, safer and more sustainably.
