Navman has renewed its agreement with real-time traffic information provider, SUNA Traffic Channel, for a further two years.

Navman customers with SUNA-compatib
le devices are automatically updated on nearby traffic incidents such as accidents, road congestion or other events that could delay a journey.

The agreement is the longest-running of its kind in Australia. SUNA has been providing real-time traffic information directly to more than a million compatible Navman devices since 2007.

Speaking about the contract extension, Intelematics CEO, Adam Game, said “Navman has been a SUNA customer since we become the first traffic service to launch in Australia, and the extension of the contract for an additional two years will ensure the companies enjoy a decade-long working relationship.”

Navman customers will be able to access the SUNA service in even more locations following a network expansion undertaken earlier this year. Some 10 new cities can now receive the latest traffic information from SUNA, with the service reaching 97 per cent of Australians living in metropolitan areas.

SUNA is available in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Hobart, Darwin, Newcastle, Central Coast, Wollongong, Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Sunshine Coast and Ipswich.

In addition to its availability on Navman PND’s, SUNA reaches millions of other motorists through its accessibility across a range of devices including automotive navigation systems, aftermarket in-dash navigation systems and smartphones.

SUNA is also the traffic provider for Navman devices purchased in New Zealand.
